Title: Waiting For The Storm
Author: knitekat
Word Count: 100
Characters: James Lester, OWC, Dave the future predator
Rating: 12
Disclaimer: Primeval belongs to Impossible Pictures. Certainly not me. Writing for fun and will replace.
A/N: For the P100 challenge 287: Silence. Part of my Dreams Of Yesterday drabble series and continues from Thoughts On A Future Predator. Thanks go to Fred for looking it over for me, *hugs* the hound.
James' attention was abruptly brought back to the here and now. He strained his ears, wondering what new danger he had sensed and heard... nothing. Every sound in the jungle was absent, even the future predator stood silent and still as its nostrils twitched.
As the hairs on the back of his neck rose and the shivering cub burrowed closer against him, James tried to slow his rapid breathing, each hitched gasp sounding far too loud in the sudden silence. It felt as if the whole jungle was waiting for a storm to break... or for a predator to attack.
