James woke, groaning softly, his whole body aching as he shivered. He tensed at a low growl before relaxing as he felt the cub's small, quivering body press against him and realised it was the cub he could hear.

It took a moment before James realised the cub had to be growling at something and, whatever it was, he was in no state to fight or flee from it.

James heard the rustling of vegetation and could only hope it was from a friend, but couldn't help fear that, the way his day was going, it would be a foe.
