The wolf cub whined softly, begging for attention but his daddy didn't move from his position, sprawled bonelessly on the damp ground. The cub whimpered and squirmed out of his warm, safe den to nuzzle and lick at his face, but his daddy lay still.

Approaching footsteps had the cub flattened his ears but he refused to leave his daddy's side, instead puffing up his fur to stand guard.

The cub loved his parents and had since the first moment his mummy held him close, comforting him.

Now it was his turn to protect his daddy for whatever threat approached.
