James carefully examined the plate before trying what he hoped was mash potato. He smiled with relief when it was.

The yellow mess was equally prodded before he risked a forkful. Chewing it carefully, he concluded it was definitely vegetable.

That only left the brownish heap. James poked it even more cautiously than the two he had already tried. He looked up at Nick's chuckle, before asking, “It is meant to look like that?”

“Like what?”

“Not very appetising.”

“It's Haggis, love.” Nick snorted at James' expression. “And this from someone who eats raw rabbit.”

I think given the choice I'd have the haggis over the raw rabbit, but it would be a close thing and there would have to be a very good reason why I had to eat one! :-)
