Stephanie clutched the soft toy James had won for her only last week and used it to mop up her tears. She had never felt so useless and scared as she waited news.

She'd asked James not to go caving this weekend; that something would go wrong but James had just kissed her and told her he'd be fine.

Toby had called her with the news, James had been caught in a rock-fall and... Stephanie blinked back tears. If only James had listened to her, he wouldn't now be lying in intensive care and she wouldn't be waiting for news.
