Abby sighed as she found Lester staring into the night. Even though his body language screamed at her to keep away, Abby couldn't. “James? What's wrong?”

He snorted. “What could possibly be wrong? We're only trapped on the wrong side of an anomaly. A closed anomaly I might add.”

Abby smiled. “James? Talk to me.” She heard him sigh and then his shoulders slumped.

“It's my youngest's birthday tomorrow. His first since...”

When Lester swallowed convulsively and turned his head away, Abby blinked back her own tears and squeezed his arm. “We'll get home, James.”
