A/N: A drabble for Halloween
Stephen hesitated at Lester’s office door, a hand raised to knock before he realised. Instead he called out, “James?” He watched Lester start before hurrying through the door. “I’m sorry. Someone had to do something and I had the best chance of survival.”
“Helen…”
“Wasn’t about to volunteer and you know it.” Stephen spoke over Lester. He sighed softly as he looked at Lester’s face, watching the cracks appear in his lover’s facade and Stephen wished he could kiss him. He wished he could turn back time and make a different choice.
One which left him alive and with Lester.
