Chrissie's tone was one he had learned to take seriously.

"No joke, I remember how you reacted to Harrison's. He still turns tail if he knows you're about."

"Good."

"Now, that's the back of a chair. Can you sit down?"

"James."

"Please."

"Fine. Can I take the blindfold off now?"

"Yes."

"Dinner by candlelight. What have you planned?"

"Well... I was hoping you'd say yes."

James cursed softly when Chrissie remained silent, his plans and heart in tatters.

"James... this is rather romantic of you."

"Yes, well, um."

"Of course I'll marry you."
