Every time Nick left on a Shout, my inner wolf yearned to be at his side, protecting him from any danger.
Instead, I had to remain in my office, dealing with never-ending paperwork and idiots. My temper even shorter than normal and the four walls of my office might as well have been bars, even if I could walk through the door.
Even visiting Monty only calmed the wolf, calmed me for a short time. I needed to be with my mate.
I could only hope Jenny would convince Lieutenant Owen I was ready to be certified for the field.
