Abby hugged Rex close to her. He chirped happily as she stroked her hand over his skin and kissed his head.
She really didn't want to let him go, but knew that she must.
He didn't belong here, and as much as it hurt to say goodbye, it was for the best. It was far better than letting Lester's people get their hands on him once again.
With one final cuddle, Abby handed Rex to Nick. “Take good care of him.” Placing a hand on his head, Abby tickled Rex. “Have a good life, Rex. I'll miss you.”
