The first James knew of the thunderstorm was when he’d woken with a full bladder; by the time he’d made it back to bed, the storm raged overhead.
As the near constant lightening bolts lit his bedroom into a flickering nightmare, James huddled against the bedhead, his arms clasped around his knees as his mind flooded with memories.
Of being hunted through his own ARC, the predator revealed in the flickering emergency lighting.
Of the pain exploding in his chest when the claws found their mark.
Of running, his pounding heart a siren call as the predator hunted him relentlessly.
