"Sir?”

 

One look at Captain Becker’s, for him, dishevelled state told me that our… his latest attempt had failed. He looked shattered, not just physically but mentally as well, but the look in his eye told me he was determined to have another attempt. “Sarah has an idea.”

 

It was only than I noticed Sarah lurking behind him. I glanced at the latest ministerial memo, knowing this would be the last favour I could use, the last string I could pull to stave off our closure. But I wasn’t ready to concede defeat any more than they were. “I’m listening.”
