A/N: For P100 prompt 719: Neanderthal. A bit of a side-swipe at the prompt and #35 in my Ice Age drabble series and follows on from Predator Or Prey.

I watched as one of the Coelophysis stepped towards us, its head snaked out as it hissed menacingly at us, obviously trying to make us run. “I believe our dinner guests are becoming rather impatient,” I remarked. “I don’t suppose you’ve thought of a plan to deal with them?”

“It’s times like this I’d even welcome the presence of your pet Neanderthals.”

“My what?” I asked before cursing myself for admitting ignorance.

“Your soldiers, my dear James.”

“Considering you can’t summon an anomaly, might I suggest we try Plan B… assuming you have one… rather than insult my highly-skilled soldiers?”
