“James?” Lester glanced up to see Cutter at his door, two brightly coloured glasses of punch in his hands. “The party’s started.”

“So I hear.”

“And you’re still up here.”

“I had noticed.”

“So I brought the party to you.”

“By bringing me spiked punch?”

Cutter gave the punch a cautious sniff. “Are you sure?”

“Quite. I observed a number of individuals slipping what I can only assume was alcohol into it.”

Cutter placed the glasses on the side. “So, no party.”

“Not necessarily.” Lester opened his drawer, took two glasses out and poured before holding one out. “Well, Nick?”
