Title: Out Of The Fire
Author: knitekat
Word Count: 100
Characters: James Lester, Helen Cutter
Rating: 12
Disclaimer: Primeval belongs to Impossible Pictures. Certainly not me. Writing for fun and will replace.
A/N: For P100 prompt 696: Mountains. Part 31 of my Ice Age drabble series and follows on from Hope.
I stared into the abyss before carefully backing away from the sheer drop. Swallowing as I felt the rock crumbling beneath my fingers and I realised one more step, blinded and choking on the ash, would have seen me plummet over. I doubted I’d have survive the fall, at least, not for long. “Wonderful.”
“At least you’re not burning to death,” Helen almost snapped
“True,” I agreed, before adding as I shivered in the cold mountain air, “Although hypothermia isn’t much better.”
“Then we better move.” Helen pointed down the mountain. “Our next anomaly. Try and keep up this time.”
