It was past his children’s bedtime when James’ latest day from hell was finally over. He was bloody exhausted and still wasn’t sure which had been worse. The idiotic minister who needed reports in single syllables to have the slightest chance of understanding, or Cutter’s latest encounter with The Firm.
He smiled when his pyjama-clad children ran to greet him, laughing as they all tried to speak at the same time. He sipped the malt Chrissie pressed into his hand as he sat down on the settee, his children cuddling in and relaxed as he caught up on their day.
