Lester woke sluggishly before flinching from the cold hand on his forehead, setting off a coughing fit which left his chest aching. In fact, every bit of his body ached, even his hair.
“Drink this, James.”
He groaned when he placed that voice. Just what he needed, to be ill with the bloody flu and in the disreputable company of Helen Cutter.
“Come on, James.”
Lester knew Helen wasn’t helping out of the goodness of her so-called heart, that she wanted something from him… but right now, the cool water she was coaxing him to drink overrode all such considerations.
