I'm impressed by the amount of medical details you've provided, not to mention the varying emotional reactions from the people close to Lester. I loved seeing Nick feel actual compassion when he heard the news. I was really happy to see him join Connor and Claudia at the hospital and be part of that silent vigil at the end.
