A/N: For P100 prompt 653: Bonfire Night. Angst and for Danny month on Denial.
Danny knew the other coppers thought he’d be all over Bonfire Night and they would have been correct, once.
But now, he only had bittersweet memories of wandering the streets, pushing a battered guy in a ‘borrowed’ shopping trolley, accosting anyone for ‘Penny for the guy’, his annoying brother in tow. Of how he’d always tried to give his brother the slip, planning on spending his hard earned money on cigs rather than the firework Patrick wanted.
For years afterwards, Danny had saved up and brought the biggest firework he could, hoping it would bring Patrick home.
It never had.
