A single chirp escaped Sid when he spotted the perfect gift for Nancy, knowing she’d forgive him for taking the last of the extra tasty food if he could get it for her. He jumped up, his claws scrabbling on the door, his teeth snapping just short of it before he landed heavily on the floor.
He wasn’t going to give up and gathered himself for another attempt when he heard approaching footsteps. He darted beneath the bed, crouching motionless in the shadows. He could only watch as the always-angry two-leg entered and tied Nancy’s gift around his own neck.
