Nick glanced at the detective opposite him and bit back a sigh. He had answered the same questions over and over again. It was frustrating, knowing they suspected him of being involved in Helen’s disappearance and all because his busy-body neighbour overheard a few arguments… OK, several blazing rows.

When the detective turned back to the first question, Nick growled in frustration before crying, “I’m telling you, I dinna do it.” He leaned forward, his face almost in the detective’s. “So stop wasting my time and find out where my wife is.” He slumped back in his chair, suddenly exhausted.
