Jess' fingers tapped rapidly on her keyboard, scrolling through pages of information – both public records and secret government files – on one Evan Cross and his company, Cross Photonics.
She didn't – couldn't – trust him, not after the near-disaster of Convergence and Philip Burton's New Dawn. Jess would find out if Cross was a threat to the world. Then she'd tell Lester. She was sure Lester would deal with Cross if necessary. One near ending of the world was more than enough.
Her fingers paused. She'd never have thought something so cold only three weeks ago. Something else to blame on Burton.
