“To recap, you're claiming that Monty's rampage, causing damage in excess of seventeen thousand pounds, was because he was drunk?”

“Yes, sir.”

“What did you do? Take him down to the local public house? Buy out the alcohol section of the nearest supermarket?”

“No, sir. It's the apples.”

“Apples?”

“They must have fermented.”

“Really? I have it on good authority that the amount of alcohol in fermenting apples is so low, Monty would have to eat hundreds of them in one go.”

“Er..”

“Would you like to change your story or should I just let Ms Maitland deal with you?”
