“Don't you see, Nick, that humanity has wasted every opportunity it was given with the Earth.” Helen leaned forward, her cleavage heaving with her fervent words. “The anomalies give us the perfect chance to save the Earth and to give another species a chance.”

“That's your plan? To kill humanity?” Nick shook his head. “You'll kill yourself!”

“No.” Helen's smile chilled Nick's heart. “We're outside of time. All I need to do is find the right anomaly and I can watch the evolution of whatever replaces humanity.”

“And if they are just as destructive?”

Helen shrugged. “I'll just try again.”
