It was over.
Stephen had known Nick would never forgive him. He'd realised Helen had lied over and over to him, and he'd made the only choice left. He had entered the room without knowing or caring if Lester would come through.
Now he'd survived, Stephen wasn't sure what to do next. He couldn't stay in the country, Lester had made that clear in his usual manner.
Stephen smiled, knowing he'd take the advice Lester had given him. He would leave and start a new life, free of guilt and see what happened. He had a whole world to explore.
