Bright light, flickers and calls to him, ruffling his feathers as he steps through in search of prey.

He stops. Strange smells and sounds. Should he retreat? But his young need food.

A scream has his head turning. Fast movement and he leaps, claws foremost, only to meet a hard shell. His claws shriek as they slide on it as he seeks to retain his balance.

Screams from inside have him attacking again.

More movement draws his attention. Unshelled prey. Soft and unprotected. He flexes his legs, leaping as a flash moves towards him.

Darkness comes. His young go hungry.
