Lester breathed a cautious sigh of relief as he hung up the phone. He appeared to have convinced the minister that they were acting to stop a disaster, but... he had little doubt they'd all be facing the prospect of a trial if the minister needed a scapegoat to save his own neck.

Of course, Lester mused, that all assumed they actually survived the current disaster, and he knew there was no guarantee Matt's plan would work. In that case, being behind bars would pale to insignificance compared to the end of humanity.

He turned his attention to Plan C.
