Lyle smiled when Lester leaned into him, enjoying the kiss even though his thumbs still itched. He felt Lester tense against him before the man murmured, “Maybe it is just as well Captain Ryan isn't here.”

“What?” Lyle blinked, wondering what the hell Lester was on about, especially in the middle of their kiss.

“We have company.”

Lyle turned and swore when he saw the horde of spiders the size of bloody dogs scuttling towards them. No wonder his thumbs had been itching. He grabbed Lester's hand and bolted, hoping they could outrun what looked like an unstoppable black tide.
