“James?”

Lester dragged his attention away from the scythe he was holding and noticed that Lyle was scratching his thumbs. “Jon? Is there a problem?”

Lyle nodded. “Can you please put that scythe down.”

Lester froze and realised he was sharpening the blade. He nodded but found it almost impossible to let go of it. And why should he?

“James. Please.”

Lester could hear the worry in Lyle's voice and knew he should put it down. He gritted his teeth before finally releasing the shaft and stepping back. Although his gaze kept being drawn to it until Lyle kissed him.
