Lester gave a half-bow before politely enquiring. “Madam, you said our coming was foretold?”

“Your coming has been long awaited, James Lester. The arrival of the Shadow, the Warrior and the Unborn.”

Lester looked thoughtful. “If I might ask, what does your... prophesy say?”

“There is a curse upon this land.” The witch's smile sent a chill down Lester's back. “It has been foretold that three shall appear to break it.”

“And if we do?”

“If you succeed I will send you back to your world.” The witch paused, her gaze flickering to Lyle. “Unless you ask for another reward.”
