Primeval Drabble: Tap-tap-tap

Title: Tap-tap-tap

Author: knitekat

Word Count: 100

Characters: Connor, Rex

Rating: 12

Disclaimer: Primeval belongs to Impossible Pictures. Certainly not me. Writing for fun and will replace.

A/N: From P100 Challenge 130: 'Things that go bump in the night'. Thanks to the wonderfully Fred for the beta.

Connor sat in the dark as he watched “Triffids”.

Abby was out and Rex was sitting on the settee beside him, happily munching salad.

In a lull in the film, he heard a tapping sound.

Connor dismissed it as nothing.

But it came again and again.

A steady tap-tap-tap.

His heart thudded in his chest as he slowly turned to look.

Someone – something – was tapping on the window.

Swallowing dryly, Connor slowly crept and opened the curtains.

He sighed at the branch the wind was blowing against the window.

And screamed as Rex landed on his shoulder.

Lol, poor Conn. Still the advantage of having a pet is those odd noises you hear in the middle of the night, you can just blame them on the dog/cat/prehistoric flying lizard and not worry so much.

I second that. When I hear odd noises at night, I usually think that the pets will alarm me, if something actually happens. ^.^

Our fence was destroyed by vandals two nights in a row. The furball slept through it lol. But I hold out hope he'd wake up if anyone actually got inside the place.

Thanks. True, the cat prowls around at night and all odd noises get blamed on him :)
