Connor gazed at New Dawn as Philip explained everything – although Connor doubted it really was everything – and felt awed by the sheer scale of Philip's plan.
Then Connor caught the smug self-satisfied look on Philip's face and remembered what Philip had done to him and James. It was sobering to realise that, only a few short months ago, he'd have fallen for Philip's spiel, selling himself for the chance to be part of it.
But not now.
Connor's heart was no longer for sale, certainly not for the pretty baubles Philip was offering him. He’d already given it to another.
