What He Was Fighting For Matt Anderson
After the sterile, barren and dead world he came from, the 20th century seemed like a paradise to Matt.
He didn't care for money or the so-called essential trappings everyone else just had to own. His own flat was bare of anything non-essential and held no personal touches. He'd learned to live without in the future.
His only exception was to surround himself with as many plants as he could and to always take the time to smell any fresh flowers he encountered.
It reminded him what he was fighting to save and what would be lost if he failed
It's The Thought That Counts Connor Temple/James Lester
Connor heard the click of the front door and swallowed as he looked at the mess he'd made of the kitchen. He'd hoped to have had time to tidy it before Lester came home, but for once, the workaholic had left on time.
“Connor!” Lester rarely enforced his rules, but the kitchen being tidy was one of the few he did.
“I wanted to surprise you,” Connor mumbled and was surprised to see a smile flash across Lester's face before his lover kissed him.
“Its a lovely gesture, Con.” Lester tugged Connor towards their bedroom. “But you're tidying up later.”
Complete Control Philip Burton
Philip Burton was a self-made man who had learned long ago that others were incompetents who couldn't understand his science or vision. They would take short-cuts or think they knew best, sabotaging his plans through their laziness.
No, Philip had learned long ago, if he wanted something done right, he had to do it himself and that meant having complete control over every project his company was involved in.
It was why this business with the ARC bothered him. He lacked that control and he just knew someone would make a mistake and destroy everything he was trying to build.
Truth And Lies James Lester/Hilary Becker
James Lester had never been entirely truthful about what he told the minister after each mission; but unlike Christine, he hadn't bragged about it to a man with a tape recorder.
He also hadn't been entirely lying when he'd told Becker not to expect a kiss from him.
James had rules.
At the ARC, he was Becker's boss and the soldier was expected to treat him as his superior officer.
But at home, while... Becker still liked to be ordered about and since he'd done so well today, James decided he'd suck Becker's cock before fucking him through the mattress.
And Then He Fell Hilary Becker
Becker hadn't fallen into despair when Danny, Abby and Connor had vanished through an anomaly and not returned. He had to believe they were still alive, still out there and just needing him to find them and bring them home.
He'd believed that on every search mission he'd organised and commanded. He'd believed in Sarah and her idea to get their friends home, and even though it went against every rule in the book, he'd let her accompany the team to bring her – their – friends home.
He'd believed until he'd brought Sarah's body home and then he'd fallen.
