Helen slipped inside Lester's room and smiled at the drugged man.
“I shouldn't have agreed to help Philip steal Connor from you. Oh, it's the perfect revenge, but he's obsessed.” She sighed, brushing hair from Lester's forehead. “He's made Abby suspicious. I don't care what he does to Connor, but risking my plan in his ill-conceived rush to consummate...”
Lester stirred, mumbling, “Connor.”
Helen smiled. “Don't worry. Philip won't get to relish his victory for long. He'll soon realise what he's helped me accomplish. But I'll give him a moment. After all, I've waited this long to save the Earth.”
