Tired (Hospital - 177)

James yawned tiredly. He just couldn't seem to get enough sleep, even after hours unconscious he felt so bloody tired. His mind was a fuzzy mess and he couldn't think clearly. He glared half-heartedly at the IV and wondered for a brief second what drugs they had him on before he lost hold of that thought.

James curled up in his soft bed, feeling his muscles ache as he shifted. He missed Connor... where was he? Even angry, Connor'd be here for James. What had happened?

James sat up and gasped as a sharp agonising pain lanced through his chest.

Pain (Fight – 169)

James gasped for air. His chest hurt so bloody much, as if someone was cutting deep into him and ripping him wide open. He couldn't breath. He couldn't...

He was struggling for breath when he flailed an arm out wildly and felt it brush something. Some moments later he heard something clatter to the ground.

Voices sounded. Urgent and faint and from a great distant. He couldn't hear the words, they were just a muddle of noise. Hands touched his skin and James struck out. Fighting to breathe, fighting to escape, fighting to escape the darkness that came for him.

Awake Again (Connor Temple – 44)

James slowly woke to the steady bleep of instruments, a rhythmic sound that almost lulled him back to peaceful sleep and pleasant dreams. He felt his hand being squeezed and slowly focused on the blurry form sitting next to him. James smiled for a moment, the name 'Connor' on his lips before his eyes managed to focus and he recognised Abby.

“How are you feeling, James?”

James met her gaze before looking around the room, as much as he could see flat on his back. His voice croaky and harsh from disuse and screaming, James barely managed one word: “Connor?”
