A/N: For the P100 challenge 248: Shattered. Part of my Under The Moonlight wolfverse series. Potentially angsty (maybe).
The great dark wolf shook his fur and raised his nose to the wind. His intelligent green eyes turned to the moon, full and calling to him. He had to reply to her, every fibre of his being told him so.
He lifted his muzzle skywards and let lose a howl. His ears twitched as he sought a response, even though he knew no wolves dwelt in this land... but he always half-hoped one of his own would reply.
Alone he shattered the stillness of the night with his howls while, far below, humans shivered unconsciously and curled up tight.
